When the original AR (Archie) Kramer first opened his flooring showroom in Detroit in 1925, he developed a tradition of trust and performance that would carry the Kramer name well into the 21st century as a Legend in Floor Covering in the Detroit area.

The original showroom, located in the Fenkel and Wyoming area of Detroit, served the general consumer market by mostly providing linoleum.  AR's real claim to fame and the business that put him on the map, was when he got the Michigan State Police account, laying linoleum for them throughout the entire state. The early years were devoted mainly to commercial business, with clients like U of M and U of M Hospital, Ford Motor Company, Oakland University and Wayne County Airport to name just a few.

By the 1960's with the help of his son Alan, Kramer was able to develop a strong consumer market.

In 1971, AR and his son Alan opened the Livonia showroom, still located on Middlebelt Road in Livonia. It was at this time that grandson Arthur was brought into the family business and in 1976, Arthur "Art" Kramer took over the reigns of the business with the help of his brother Michael handling the commercial end of the business.  Now Art and Mike are closely helped by Andrew Kramer and Lauren Kramer (Arthurs children) ensuring the same quality installations and superior customer service as their great grandfather began in 1925.  In 1996 A.R. Kramer Flooring joined Flooring America, a prestigious national buying group, to ensure superior quality at the lowest prices around. 

In 1996 A.R.
